Round 2

Overview

Prior to the 2021 recruitment year, IMT held a second round every year to fill programmes which were either not filled in round 1 or have become available subsequent to round 1. Since then, the competition levels for IMT have increased and it has not been necessary to hold a second round.

Consequently it is not anticipated that a second round will be required and we urge anyone interested in an IMT programme starting in 2024 to apply in round 1. This will be reviewed after applications close for round 1 and should it be decided a second round may be required, a news item will be published.

Round 2 schedule

If a second round is required, it is likely to run to the timetable on the Specialty Training website (see 'Round 1 – CT/ST1 Re-adverts') and programmes available will have the same start date as round 1.

To allow two full rounds to take place, it would be necessary for some overlap in the timelines between round 1 and round 2. Therefore you may need to consider making an application to round 2, even if you are awaing the outcome of an application to round 1. There is no problem with this and your round 1 application would remain active and entirely unaffected by a round 2 application (and vice versa).
